# What You'll Need:

→ Chicken Patties

01 - 1.1 lbs ground chicken
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 tbsp soy sauce
05 - 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
06 - 1/2 tsp salt
07 - 1/2 tsp black pepper
08 - 1 tbsp olive oil (for grilling)

→ Toppings

09 - 4 pineapple rings (fresh or canned, drained)
10 - 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
11 - 4 lettuce leaves
12 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
13 - 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
14 - 4 tbsp barbecue sauce

→ Buns

15 - 4 burger buns, toasted

# Directions:

01 - In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped onion, garlic, soy sauce, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
02 - Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into burger patties.
03 - Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and brush lightly with olive oil.
04 - Grill the chicken patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and juices run clear (internal temperature 165°F). If using cheese, add a slice to each patty in the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
05 - While the patties are cooking, grill the pineapple rings for 2 minutes per side, until lightly caramelized.
06 - Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until golden.
07 - Spread barbecue sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, a chicken patty, grilled pineapple ring, red onion, and the top half of the bun.
08 - Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The sweet and smoky combination tastes like a vacation without leaving your backyard
  • Everything cooks on the grill so cleanup is practically nonexistent
02 -
  • Ground chicken is much more delicate than beef so handle patties gently and resist pressing them down with your spatula
  • Letting the assembled burgers rest for 2 minutes before eating helps all those flavors meld together
03 -
  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking since chicken dries out faster than beef burgers
  • If your patties stick to the grill give them another minute to develop a natural sear before flipping
